Plattsburgh shoots down Lake Placid girls

LAKE PLACID — The Plattsburgh girls basketball team capitalized on a rash of Lake Placid turnovers Thursday night on the way to a 44-26 victory.

Lake Placid struggled in the first half and gave away 17 turnovers as the Hornets went into the locker room with a comfortable 23-9 advantage. The Bombers played better in the third quarter but never really threatened the lead.

“Plattsburgh showed up to play tonight, and we didn’t,” Lake Placid coach Jeff Potter wrote in an email. “They grabbed an early lead and never relinquished it. Three of our starters got into foul trouble early, which disrupted our tempo all night.”

The Blue Bombers put forth a balanced attack offensively, with Laurel Miller scoring seven points, Graci Daby with six and Camille Craig and Lindsey Rath hitting for four points apiece.

Plattsburgh’s Abbi Crahan led all scorers with 17 points. The Hornets connected for 11 of 25 from the free throw line.

“Plattsburgh moved the ball well on offense and was able to hit consistantly from the outside,” Potter wrote. “The positive out of the game (was) everyone contributed offensively for us. We will regroup and get ready for our next game Tuesday at Seton.”
