Devils take down Chill in tune-up

MORRISONVILLE — The Adirondack Chill 16-and-under softball team dropped a 6-1 decision Wednesday against the Northern Devils 18U team.

The Devils scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back. Nikki Donah limited the Chill to just two hits, while Sydney Adolfo went 2-for-3 and Skye O’Connell had two RBI to lead the Devils offense.

The Chill scored their run in the fifth inning when Gabby Dumas reached on a walk. Kya McComb moved Dumas to second with a sacrifice bunt and Marissa Gibbs singled up the middle to move Dumas to third. Dumas scored on a close play at the plate on a passed ball.

Brooke Myers had the only other hit for the Chill. She also went the distance pitching, giving up just five hits while striking out seven and walking five.

The Devils and the Chill will tangle again next Wednesday in Morrisonville as both teams gear up for tournaments Aug. 4-6, with the Chill traveling to St. Albans, Vermont for the Vermont Rockets Invitational.
