Adirondack Chill on the road

The Adirondack Chill 16-and-under travel softball team has had a busy couple weeks. After taking part in the Saratoga Springs Spa City Classic two weeks ago, the Chill returned to the area Sunday for two games.

Adirondack opened Sunday’s action with an 8-1 loss to the Mechanicville Intensity, a team they beat in the tournament a week before. Elisa Rodriguez went 2-for-3 to lead the Chill offensively, while teammates Rylee Pierson, Danielle Dubay and Marissa Gibbs each recorded a hit. Kya McComb took the pitching loss in her first start of the season.

In Sunday’s second game, Adirondack fell 10-2 to Rotterdam. Dru Gravelle went 2-for-3 at the plate and Rodriguez, Dubay and Gibbs again connected for hits. Pierson was tagged with the pitching loss.

Adirondack returns to action Friday when they travel north for the Quebec Rebelles Invitational in Montreal.

Adirondack opened the season June 17 at the Saratoga Springs Spa City Classic, where they went 2-2 overall.

The Chill faced strong pitching in Game 1 against the Slik Chix and fell 8-1. Brooke Myers struck out five from the pitching circle, but took the loss. The offense was led by Myers’ 2 -for-2 performance with Rodriguez, Dubay and Gibbs picking up a hit each.

Game 2 saw the Chill take down the host Saratoga Thunder 12-9. Elliana Bowlen got the win after striking out five and Myers picked up the save in relief. Rodriguez, Pierson and Gabby Dumas led the offense with three hits apiece, including a triple by Rodriguez. Hannah Rondeau contributed a triple and a single. Myers, Anna Brown, Gibbs, Emma Prentiss and Kya McComb also had a hit.

The third game was a pitchers’ duel, with Pierson coming out on top of the Mechanicville Intensity 5-2. She struck out seven and scattered five hits for the win. Rodriguez again led the offense with a two-hit performance. Pierson, Rondeau, Gravelle, Prentiss and Gibbs also picked up hits.

The single-elimination phase on Sunday saw the Chill fall to the Burnt Hills Spartans 6-3. Myers took the loss in relief of Bowlen. Marissa Gibbs was the big bat going 3-for-4. Rodriguez, Pierson, and Myers had two hits apiece and Dumas and McComb contributed one hit each.
