The boys’ team won the last regular meet of the season before this Saturday’s sectional meet at the North Elba Show Grounds with a 75-55 score. The girls tallied their only loss of the season and moved to 3-1 in the division with 67-56 loss Wednesday.

“The Lake Placid boys claimed the Division 2 conference championships for CVAC, and the girls put up a good fight – going 3 and 1 in the conference,” coaches Bill and Mel Frazer said. “We are looking forward to hosting sectionals this Saturday in the great weather (that is) predicted.”

The boys claimed a decisive victory, winning 10 of the 16 events in the meet.

The Blue Bombers team of Stuart Baird, Kai Frantz, Scott Schulz and Birk Albert combined to win the 3,200 relay with a time of 9 minutes, 39 seconds. Justin Novick won the 110-meter hurdles in 20.5 seconds, while Lake Placid’s Carter Grady easily captured the 100-meter dash in 11.6 seconds. Grady also won the 200 (24.2) and Novick bested the field in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.

Senior Henry McGrew handily won both the 800 (2:15) and the 1,600 (4:57). Baird won the high jump with a 5-foot leap, while Trent White won the long jump, going 19 feet, 7 inches. The boys rounded out their stellar day when White, Schulz, Carter Grady and Cooper Grady won the 1,600 relay in 3:58.

EKMW won both the 400 and the 400 relay, as well as the 3,200, shot put, discus and triple jump.

On the girls’ side, the 3,200 relay team of Gabby Armstrong, Anne Rose-McCandlish, Lissy Ashley and Anya Morgan were first across the line in 11:31. Morgan was also part of the winning 400-meter relay along with Graci Daby, Sydney Terpening and Bea Hollander. The girls crossed the finish line in under a minute at 59.7 seconds. Morgan also won the 400 with a time of 1:10.

Ashley easily won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:23, while senior Grace McGrew won the long jump with a distance of 14 feet.

The girls continued their dominance of the relay events, capturing their final first-place spot in the 1,600 relay. McGrew, Hollander, Armstrong and Morgan clocked a time of 4:42.

EKMW captured both the 100 hurdles and 100-meter dash, as well as claiming victories in the 1,500, 800, 200 and 3,000. The combined team made up of athletes from Keene, Elizabethtown, Moriah and Westport also won the discus, shot put and triple jump.

Lake Placid next competes Saturday at home, when it hosts the Section VII championships at the North Elba Show Grounds.
