Meadows paces Red Storm indoor track

PLATTSBURGH — Jada Meadows placed first in one event and second in another Saturday as the Saranac Lake indoor track and field team traveled to the Plattsburgh State Field House for its second meet of the season.

Meadows raced to victory in the 55-meter, recording a time of 7.70 seconds. She took second in the 300 in 47.50 seconds, trailing only Sue Sivakumaron of Plattsburgh who crossed the line in 46.40.

As a team, the Saranac Lake girls placed fifth with 49 points. Saranac won the meet with 138 points, followed by Plattsburgh (97), Peru (79.50) and Seton Catholic (53.50).

The Chiefs also won the boys meet, scoring 158 points. Saranac Lake was sixth with 36.

The Red Storm boys placed second in the 3,200 relay, while the girls 640 relay team took also took second.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Saranac 43, Saranac Lake 25

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake girls basketball team rallied in the third quarter Friday night but Saranac put the game away in the fourth for a 43-25 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory.

The Chiefs took a 23-11 lead going into the locker room at halftime, before Saranac Lake cut the deficit to 29-23 in the third quarter.

Jayda Buckley scored a game-high 13 points for the Red Storm, while teammate Andrea Boon contributed eight.

Payton Couture paced Saranac with 10 points.

Indian Lake/Long Lake 34, Lake Placid 32

INDIAN LAKE — The Indian Lake/Long Lake girls basketball team eked out a 34-32 Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lake Placid on Friday night.

The Blue Bombers outscored the Orange 13-10 in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough to overtake the lead.

Camille Craig led Lake Placid in scoring with 10 points. Lillian Dechene poured in 19 points for Indian Lake/Long Lake to lead all scorers.
