OFA falls at the Dome
SYRACUSE — The Ogdensburg football team saw its historic season come to an end on Friday with a 39-34 loss to Newark Valley in the New York State Class C championship game at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
The Blue Devils, who became the first team in Section X to reach a state final, trailed the entire game, but kept up the pressure to keep things tight until the final buzzer.
Ogdensburg trailed 36-20 at halftime but outscored the Cardinals 14-3 after halftime to stay in the hunt until ultimately coming up short.
Ogdensburg won four playoff games, including a 41-28 victory over Saranac Lake on Nov. 4, to reach the Dome. The Blue Devils finished their campaign with a 10-3 record.
The Cardinals, who were the Section IV champions, finished their run to the state title with a 14-0 mark.
