Patriots roll past Bombers

CLINTONVILLE – The Lake Placid volleyball team was swept 3-0 on the road Thursday at AuSable Valley. The Patriots rolled to a 25-10 win in the opening game and were never derailed, triumphing 25-14 in the second contest and clinching the victory with a 22-22 win in the deciding game.

Victoria O’Leary paced Lake Placid with 4 points, 8 kills and 5 digs; and Gracy Daby finished with a team-high 7 assists to go along with 2 kills and a block for the Blue Bombers.

Brooke Santamaria and Lindsey Lincoln paced the Patriots, combining for 22 points.

Beekmantown 3, Saranac Lake 0

BEEKMANTOWN – Players on the Saranac Lake volleyball team knew they had to come up big on Thursday when they traveled to face unbeaten Beekmantown. The Red Storm, however, found themselves outmatched against the defending champion of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference.

Playing for the final time at home during the regular season, the Eagles cruised to a 3-0 sweep over the Red Storm, winning by scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-8.

Allyssa Rock was the top-set up player in the match, finishing with 30 assists for Beekmantown. Brooke Bjelko also had another dominating performance at the net, finishing with 10 and 6 blocks, and the senior also contributed 14 points and 10 digs in the win.

Gabby Rowell led Beekmantown with a match-high 15 points, and chipped in 12 kills and 19 digs.

Alivia Sapone and Olivia Atkinson were Saranac Lake’s top defenders, finishing with a combined 25 digs. Jada Meadows led the Red Storm in assists with 10, and Kaitlyn Smith and Andrea Boon each had 7 points in the setback.

Saranac Lake dropped to 8-6 with the loss and wraps up the regular season at home Tuesday against Northeastern Clinton.
