To the editor:
There is excitement and hope with the proposed injection of interest in Saranac Lake. While the Hotel Saranac project brings an apparently sympathetic approach with regard to the neighborhood and history of our beautiful village, the Lake Flower project arouses worry.
Among these concerns, the one uppermost in my mind is the possibility of failure of such a large and investment-burdened hotel.
Have there been feasibility studies? Does this project fit our community? Can it be designed to fit? Or does it belong someplace else?
Let us slow down and show the standard of care that this project deserves.
In the years to come, imagine our sadness if an empty or ill-cared-for structure greets the visitors who have always come to our village for its balance and beauty.
