CHESTER (AP) - State police say a 54-year-old upstate New York man has been killed in a highway crash in the Adirondacks that happened as the region was being hit by a severe snowstorm.
Troopers tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports (http://bit.ly/1a6hq4h ) say Fadle Assallami of Troy was driving south on Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, when he lost control around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, slid off the slippery road and hit a guard rail in the Warren County town of Chester .
Police say his car bounced back into traffic and was hit by a box truck. He died at the scene.
The crash closed the highway's southbound lanes for more than six hours.
State police say today that they believe weather played a role in the crash. Troopers reported dozens of accidents on the Northway late Thursday and early today.
