To the editor:
As winter hunkers down upon us, as they do every year at this time, the local food pantries are put under a lot of demand. And as we have for the past few years, some of the local musicians are planning an all-day, free concert to help raise needed funds for the pantries.
The community support has been wonderful each year, and we've all had a great time. This year, Saturday, Feb. 22 has been selected as the date for a concert presented by Musicians Unite for Local Food Pantries and the Adirondack Carousel. The musicians donate their time and talent, and food pantry representatives will be on hand to collect donations of money and non-perishable foods. Money goes much further than food due to matching funds from various sources.
So this is advanced warning: Local businesses, beware. We will be coming around seeking donations of whatever you might offer: cash, gift certificates or merchandise to use for drawings and raffles, lodging for musicians, or food and beverage donations. We'll take whatever we can get and try to maximize them toward filling the money jar.
We would also like to do a concert in the Tupper Lake area, but we need some Tupper Lake musicians to help get it going with us.
Please contact me via email: email@example.com.
Thanks in advance, and we hope to see you all at the show, checkbook in hand.
