Elizabeth ‘Liz’ A. Baker

Elizabeth "Liz" Anne Baker, 71, passed into the hands of the Lord, on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at her home in Myrtle Beach, S.C., surrounded by her family.

Liz was born on Oct. 19, 1942 the daughter of Donald James and Eleanor (Atkinson) McKillip of Saranac Lake.

Liz graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1961. She resided in Falls Church and Fairfax, Va., employed as payroll manager for Army Times Publishing Company, now known as Gannett located in Springfield, Va. She moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. in 2000, and was employed by Direct Air Airlines until her retirement.

Liz loved traveling, camping, reading and tackling any home "do-it-yourself" project. In addition to her own three cats, she was a caregiver of many stray cats at her home in Myrtle Beach.

Liz also loved coming to Saranac Lake and Bloomingdale enjoying her time with family and friends for several months out of each year.

Liz is survived by her mother, Eleanor A. McKillip of Saranac Lake; her husband Julian William Ruffin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three brothers: Philip P McKillip and his companion Shirley of Daytona Beach, Fla, Michael J. McKillip of Bloomingdale, James D. McKillip and wife Nancy of Latham; one sister, Margaret M. Kelly, and her husband Kerry of Saranac Lake; one brother-in-law, Charles Ruffin and his wife Susanne of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Susan McKillip of Rainbow Lake; best friends Bev and Bob Bruce of Myrtle Beach, S.C; and her nieces and nephews: Jeremy Henderson, Ryan McKillip, Erin Horton, Tynan McKillip, Connor Kelly, Shannon Kelly, Matthew (and Emily) McKillip, Laura McKillip, Teri Baker, Alan Baker, Julie Smith, Jimmy Ruffin

A memorial service for Liz will be held in the spring in Bloomingdale.

Friends wishing to remember Liz, may make donations to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Saranac Lake or the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary in Bloomingdale.
