Red Storm boys soccer improves to 5-0

CLINTONVILLE - The Saranac Lake boys soccer team continued its strong start to the season Monday with a 1-0 victory over AuSable Valley.

The Red Storm improved to 5-0 with the victory.

Blake Battistoni recorded the only goal of the game when he broke through just before halftime after taking a pass from Devin Cowan.

Goalkeeper Jimmy Provost and the rest of the AuSable Valley defense held off a Red Storm torrent to stay within one goal for the rest of the game. Provost finished with 21 saves, as Saranac Lake outshot the Patriots 36-6.

Oliver Holmes was solid in net for Saranac Lake, recording the shutout after making four saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Plattsburgh 2, Saranac Lake 0

PLATTSBURGH - The Plattsburgh girls soccer team scored both its goals in the first half and held on to beat Saranac Lake 2-0 in a Northern Soccer League Division I game Monday.

Hailey McLaughlin scored the Hornets first goal in the fourth minute and Shae Frady boosted the lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute.

Plattsburgh outshot Saranac Lake 17-3.
