Simone E. LaBarge, 87, of Tupper Lake, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.
Born on Jan. 16, 1926, in Conifer, she was the daughter of Lionel and Henrietta (St. Pierre) LaFrance. She was a graduate of Holy Ghost Academy and married Drumond LaBarge on Sept. 15, 1947 at Holy Name Church.
Mrs. LaBarge was employed as a waitress for many local restaurants in Tupper Lake. She went on to work at Sunmount DDSO retiring in 1987. Simone enjoyed camping and photography, her most cherished times were spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years; six children: Stephen and his wife Wendy of Raymondville, Richard and his wife Cindy of Tupper Lake, Rhea Magher and her husband Gary of Tupper Lake, Dorie Sirois and her husband George of Cranberry Lake, Ellen Olney and her husband Peter of Sewalls Point, Fla., and Shaun and his wife Connie of Tupper Lake; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters: Theresa Albatys, Rolande Gaff, Madeline LaFountain and Sally Andres; one brother Edgar LaFrance; and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by three brothers: Robert, Andrew and John; and two sisters: Rhea Coleman and Lena LaFrance.
Calling hours are scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at Holy Name Church.
