Quebec delegate to NY speaks on border ‘corridor’

LAKE PLACID - Andre Boisclair, Quebec goverment delegate generale to New York, will present at the Lake Placid Institute's Adirondack Roundtable, "Quebec-New York Relations: Over and Above the Border."

U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsurgh, will introduce Boisclair and speak about cross-border economic projects including the Plattsburgh International Airport, according to the institute.

The event will take place Saturday morning in the Lookout Room of the new Lake Placid Conference Center on Main Street, hosted by the state Olympic Regional Development Authority and the Lake Placid Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Boisclair and the Quebec government are in partnership with New York state to develop the "corridor" project between the North Country and Quebec province, a collaboration of both governments in the fields of scientific and economic development, collaborative energy and transportation projects, and cultural, arts and sports joint efforts that will result in growing the economies, employment and cultural amenities of the North Country/Montreal region. Issues of border control and collaboration will also be addressed.
