Chaz Depaolo returns for run of gigs

August 15, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

New Jersey-based blues guitarist Chaz Depaolo first came to the Adirondacks, Lake Placid specifically, in a snowstorm in 2006.

Depaolo gave three concerts, including a midday acoustic show at the Northwoods Inn, and since then has never stayed away for long, including performances at all three of the Mountain Music Meltdown festivals.

Depaolo and his band are back for four shows in three days in the Tri-Lakes area. Today they will perform at Tail o' the Pup in Ray Brook during dinner hours. Friday and Saturday, Depaolo will perform at 10 p.m. at Zig Zags pub in downtown Lake Placid. On Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m., he will perform at the Cloudspin Lounge at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center in Wilmington.

His normal circuit takes him throughout the Northeast, down through the Carolinas, throughout Quebec and Ontario, and out to Colorado several times a year. He also plays in England, Ireland, Poland and other countries in Europe. He's opened for Buddy Guy, done a two-week tour of Hawaii with Commander Cody and toured extensively playing lead guitar with the Groundhogs and for Jimi Hendrix's brother Leon.

Last year, Depaolo was honored with induction into the Blues Hall of Fame, New York Chapter.

Depaolo doesn't shy away from hard topics when it comes to lyrics. He has faced down addictions and depression and the loss of two of his siblings.
