Stand-up paddleboard festival this weekend

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters presents the second annual Adirondack SUP (stand-up paddleboard) Festival, which will take place Friday through Sunday at Lake Colby Beach in Saranac Lake.

The festival will include SUP inspired activities for the entire family. In addition to Long and Short Course WPA sanctioned races and family fun races, there will be on-water and dry-land clinics, SUP fitness and yoga classes, SUP demos, a guided group tour for all ages and abilities and dealer reps on hand to answer SUP-related questions. Adirondack Lakes & Trails' beach side SUP shop will offer customers special sale prices on SUP boards, paddles and related accessories during the event. Food vendors, local business vendors and nonprofit organizations will be on hand to help create a fun in the sun event.

Friday After school kids SUP session - 4 to 5 p.m. with Placid Water Kayaking's Anne Brewer: An introduction to SUP strokes, techniques, and safety. Play games and get wet while getting to know SUP.

$15 (includes PFD and SUP board)

Introduction to SUP - 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with SUP Sackets Harbor

SUP Sackets Harbor's Justin MacGyver, a level II PaddleFit Coach, an ACA Certified Paddleboard Instructor, and state licensed guide for an on-water introduction to Stand Up Paddleboarding. Justin will teach you everything you need to know about SUP and we're pretty sure you are going to like it.

$20 (includes PFD and SUP board)

1, 2, 3, SUP - Forward Stroke Clinic - 6 to 7 p.m. with Werner Paddle's Danielle Deforest

A seminar to break down the SUP forward stroke and make it simple to learn and apply to the water.

$20 (does not include board ($30 to rent)

Sunset SUP?Meditation - 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Julie Carmalt

ACE Certified Paddleboard Yoga, PaddleFit Level 2, RYT-200, and World Paddle Association Level I Instructor Julie Carmalt helps people discover the meditative side of SUP.

$20 (for those who bring their own SUP) and $25 to rent a board

Sunrise SUP?Yoga -?8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with Julie Carmalt

ACE Certified Paddleboard Yoga, PaddleFit Level 2, RYT-200 and World Paddle Association Level I Instructor Julie Carmalt will host the most popular new way to enjoy SUP. All asanas (yoga poses) are modifiable for varying levels of experience.

$20 (for those who bring their own SUP) and $25 to rent a board

SUP Sackets Harbor's Justin MacGyver, a level II PaddleFit Coach, an ACA Certified Paddleboard Instructor, a state licensed guide in Rock and Ice Climbing, Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, Hiking, Camping, Boats and Canoes will host.

Long Distance SUP?Padding - TBD with Jan Brabant

Remember that guy who SUPed the 90 Miler Canoe Classic race a few years ago? And again the next year? His name is Jan. He will host a dry-land discussion about long distance SUP paddling.

Transportation and guide will be provide. Trips will start and end at Adirondack Lakes & Trials Outfitters Saranac Lake shop.

$20 (for those who have their own board) and $30 (to rent a SUP)
