LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a possible drowning on Mirror Lake at 7:45 p.m. Thursday with two trucks, two boats and 33 members.

Volunteers said an athlete from out of town was practicing the Ironman race course and got turned around. She was quickly found and was in good health when she was located and brought back to shore in a boat, volunteers said.

The department called in Saranac Lake's dive team and boat, but the woman was located before that boat was put in the water.

Volunteers were back in service at 8:30 p.m.
