SARANAC LAKE - "The Wild, Wild West," an exhibit of 24 oil paintings by Adirondack Artists Guild member Sandra Hildreth is currently on display at the Guild Gallery at 52 Main St. On Thursday May 16, at 7 p.m., Hildreth will gave a gallery talk about the exhibit.

The paintings were done over the last four years when Hildreth traveled to Glacier, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon National Parks, leading week long hiking trips for Adirondack Mountain Club members.

Her talk will include information about the specific parks, some of the places she hiked to, as well as what it?s like to paint, outdoors, on location in the ?big sky" country of the west as compared to painting in the Adirondacks.

Besides the oil paintings on display, the artist will also share her watercolor sketchbooks with the audience Hildreth has reported that painting outdoors allows her to more intimately experience the specific locations she works in.

Find out how these experiences affect her philosophy of art.

The Adirondack Artists' Guild is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
