Tobacco ads in stores are a problem

April 13, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

In New York, tobacco kills more than 25,400 people per year. Each day, 3,450 Americans 12 to 17 years old smoke their first cigarettes. Nearly 90 percent of tobacco industry advertising dollars are spent in the retail environment, especially in convenience stores. We think that tobacco marketing should be like Canada in the United States.
