PLATTSBURGH - The Plattsburgh girls basketball team beat Saranac Lake for the second time in as many nights Tuesday with a 50-37 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory.

The two teams turned in a similar result Monday night in Saranac Lake, with the Hornets walking away with a 53-34 win. The home-and-home series was bunched together due to postponements earlier in the season.

Tuesday's victory gave Plattsburgh the CVAC Division 1 regular season title. The Hornets and Beekmantown each finished with matching 14-2 records, but Plattsburgh was awarded the title as a result of a tiebreaker advantage.

Plattsburgh jumped out to a 24-14 lead after two quarters Tuesday, but the Red Storm battled back with a 17-12 advantage in the third. The Hornets put the game away with a 14-6 fourth quarter run.

Saranac Lake senior Nicole Viscardo netted nine of her team-high 15 points in the third. Regan Kieffer chipped in eight points.

Marle Curle was the leading scorer on the night with 28 points, nine of which came on 3-pointers.

The Red Storm (10-7) round out their regular season schedule Thursday on the road at Peru.
