Gallagher, Hartman, McGrew ski to gold

LAKE PLACID - Locals dominated the 4.5-kilometer skate-skiing race on the biathlon course at Mount Van Hoevenberg.

Glenice Gallagher of Lake Placid took first place in the girls' J2 category, while Bryce Hartman of Saranac Lake won the boys' J2 category and Henry McGrew won the boys' J3 category.

Gallagher finished in 19 minutes and 26 seconds, Hartman had a time of 14:51 and McGrew finished in 15:38.

Scott Schulz of Lake Placid and Ethan Wood of Saranac Lake followed McGrew in the J3 category.

Emma Underwood of Kaatskill Bay had the top time in the women's 7.5 skate-skiing race, finishing in 27:06. She was followed by Janet Findlay of Lake Placid, who had a time of 29:16, and Amanda Zullo of Saranac Lake, who finished in 29:36.

Jon Santor of Paul Smiths took first in the men's 7.5k skate skiing race with a time of 23:09. Matthew Tomiainen of Fultonville was second in 24:10. Martin Donnelly-Heg of Syracuse finished third in 24:13.
