To the editor:
The marshmallow roast, carol sing-along and Christmas tree lighting was a huge success again this year, attended by a very large crowd. Heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who worked to make this event happen. Every year this group always gives its very best efforts, so to all of you who have helped, many thanks.
First, thanks to my husband, Keith, who never says no and who does all the public-relations work and keeps us all on track; to Lorraine Kelley and Fred Schwarz, who are the best fire pit team ever; to Liz Murray for picking up marshmallow sticks IN JULY, and for loaning us her Bose CD player, which helped warm up the crowd with holiday music in preparation for the Saranac Lake High School chorus; to the SLHS chorus under the direction of Drew Benware, which again this year wowed the crowd with their singing a cappella; to Chip Button for his generous contribution of firewood, without which we would not have had a fire to roast our marshmallows; to Martha Watts, who always brings extra, fresh-cut marshmallow sticks (we certainly needed them this year); to Janie Bevilacqua and Cherrie Sayles for the lovely Christmas tree decorations; to Janie and LeAnn Baker, who kept the marshmallow sticks always loaded; and finally, to His Honor, our mayor, Clyde Rabideau, for all his help in making sure the tree was up in time, and for his serving as MC for the festivities.
No thank-you would be complete without a BIG thank-you for all those who came and helped Home for the Holidays kick off this 2012 holiday season.
