Mountaineers pull away from Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID - The Minerva-Newcomb boys basketball team used a 15-7 fourth quarter to overtake the lead and secure a 39-31 victory over Lake Placid on Thursday night.

After falling behind by seven points after the first quarter, the Blue Bombers pulled ahead in the second by outscoring the Mountaineers 14-2 for an 18-15 halftime advantage.

Tarik Cecunjanin led the way offensively for Lake Placid with nine points. Garrett Woodruff chipped in with seven points.

Minerva-Newcomb's Austin Williams led all scorers with 18 points.

The Blue Bombers (0-3) return to action Wednesday at home against Schroon Lake.
