Red Storm girls open with win over Tupper Lake

SARANAC LAKE - The Saranac Lake girls basketball team took round one of its home-and-home series against Tri-Lakes rival Tupper Lake on Thursday with a 44-24 non-league victory.

The teams will meet again next Thursday in Tupper Lake.

The Red Storm opened the game with a 10-5 advantage in the first quarter, then went into halftime leading 21-13. Saranac Lake put the game away with a 10-2 fourth quarter.

Megan Kilroy led the balanced Red Storm offense with eight points. Nicole Viscardo chipped in seven points, while Regan Kieffer, Megan Moody and Marisa McDonough each hit for six.

Katie Stuart scored a game-high 14 points for the Lumberjacks..

It was the season-opener for both teams.
