ELMA - Saranac Lake senior Elena Beideck finished off her high school cross country career Saturday with her fourth-straight appearance in the NYSPHSAA Class C Championships.
Beideck completed the 5-kilometer course at Elma Meadows Golf Course in 21 minutes, 18.6 seconds, which was good enough for 73rd place out of 127 runners. Beideck's freshman teammate Johanna Mohrs made her first state meet appearance and finished 107th in 22:57.4.
"The state competition is like no other race the whole year," said Saranac Lake coach Joe Merrihew. "Girls from teams across the state are only seconds away from you the entire race, which makes it that much more competitive.
