L. Florence Tarbox

PIERCEFIELD - L. Florence Tarbox of Piercefield left this world to be with her devoted husband Ray on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.

Born in Owls Head on Jan. 23, 1922, she was the daughter of Leo Flosshair (Paquin) Charette.

Florence and Raymond were married on Nov. 22, 1939, at St. Paul's Parish in Piercefield.

Florence was the postmaster in Piercefield for more than 25 years. She was also a charter member of the Piercefield Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and was one of the members of the fire lassies of Piercefield in the 1960s.

She is survived by three sons: Craig of Gloversville, Alan (Cheryl) of Piercefield and Kevin (Dawn) of Tupper Lake; one daughter, Stacey; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, Joseph Charette.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond; one son, Barton; and three sisters: Lucille Bedore, Rosalee Proulx and Yvonne Lafave.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 24 at Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Piercefield Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
