TUPPER LAKE - Organizers were disappointed by rainy weather Saturday morning and early afternoon, but there was still fun to be had at OkTupperFest at the Big Tupper Ski Area.

"I think people are happy to be up here supporting Big Tupper and Tupper Lake," said Faith Bedore, who helped organize the event. "People just like to be up here."

She was optimistic about the sky clearing up and more people heading up to the mountain.

The ski lodge was decked out in pumpkins, squash and other fall decor, and the walls were lined with craftspeople and other vendors. Several people were painting the faces of children (and a few adults), and DJs Pat Bedore and Andrew McClelland kept up a festive atmosphere with music.

About 20 people participated in a sloppy Mud Run up and down the ski trails of Mount Morris. Other visitors took chairlift rides up the mountain and walked back down.

Several politicians used the event to talk with voters, including U.S. Rep. Bill Owens and Ron LaScala, one of three candidates for two open trustee seats in the village.

Tom Lawson, developer of the Adirondack Club and Resort, an expansive development project planned for the mountain, chatted with visitors near a scale model of the plan and a sign that read, "The Adirondack Club: Please give us the opportunity to answer any and all of your questions."
