"Americans of the 18th century largely had enough freedom, education and prosperity to see how things could be better." Hmmm, do you think that's why the 1% and their government lackeys are so intent on destroying the middle class?

I agree that compared with others this is a pretty good country to live in but I doubt the original leaders would be too thrilled with the power of multinational corporations to dictate law and policy.
