Heartfelt thanks to our Touch A Truck heroes

To the editor:

On Sept. 14, the grounds of the Saranac Lake Civic Center and nearby Town of Harrietstown’s field were filled with sunshine, laughter and the wide-eyed wonder of children climbing into big trucks, honking horns and meeting the real-life heroes who operate them. Our third annual Touch A Truck welcomed nearly 1,000 attendees — and none of it would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our vehicle participants, sponsors, volunteers and community members.

From fire trucks and plow trucks to excavators, tow trucks, a garbage truck and even a school bus, over 30 vehicles lined the grounds, each one there because someone chose to spend their day connecting with our community. First responders, municipal teams, contractors and small business owners — you didn’t just show up with your equipment, you showed up with heart.

To our nearly 50 sponsors: your support helped fund every detail of the day — from safety and logistics to the behind-the-scenes work that makes events like this possible. Your belief in the value of community and family fun allowed us to create something truly special.

And to our volunteers — from high school seniors to senior citizens — who kept things moving smoothly behind the scenes: we couldn’t have done it without your energy, teamwork and kindness.

And to every family who came out to enjoy the day with us: thank you for your enthusiasm, your smiles and your support. Your presence brought this event to life.

This year’s Touch A Truck wasn’t just a fundraiser — it was a celebration of everything that makes Saranac Lake such a special place to call home. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made it happen.

With heartfelt thanks,
