Thanks for the climate change commentary
To the editor:
Evan Beech’s article in the Teens Speak column in the Oct. 18 issue of the Enterprise addressed climate change and its political implication in the clearest fashion I’ve read in a long time. He began the article telling us that he was truly seeing this through the eyes of a teen. This made the article even more poignant because this is the world he is inheriting.
Evan laid out why climate change is indirectly related to fossil fuels, and why 97% of scientists see the earth’s rapid change in climate warming as man-made. He then related this climate change directly to him and our world. This laid the groundwork for the rest of the article as to what our national government is trying to do and how the candidates stand on climate change.
All this was done with precision, held together with concise facts, and direct quotes on the stands of all the four candidates for president.
We need communicators just like Evan. He has a real talent for written expression. He is why we need to listen to the youth. His writing also demonstrates why thoughtful expression and considering facts and being open to all ideas is so important.
Thanks to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise for giving our youth the opportunity to express themselves. Thank you, Evan Beech, for your well written article.
Now we just have to get our citizens, businesses and government to follow up the facts in this article with action.
