Dinner to benefit Ukraine coming up

To the editor:

Sometimes it’s hard not to feel helpless, impotent, in the face of national or worldwide events.

At least that’s true for me, and I bet for a lot of other people.

Just look at the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine! A peaceful independent nation is invaded and its people brutalized by the great, monster, out-of-control Russian bear next door. What can we do? You and I can support the president and Congress in sending massive aid to Ukraine.

But that doesn’t feel like enough. It doesn’t feel personal.

That’s why a group of folks in Keene is sponsoring a community dinner to raise funds for World Central Kitchen, to get badly needed food to refugees and other war victims in Ukraine.

The dinner will feature pulled pork and Ukraine specialties.

Friday, May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Keene Fire Hall.

Please come and enjoy the helping fellowship. It’s a big fire hall!
