To the editor:

I am not a resident of Saranac Lake village but as a property owner in the village of Saranac Lake, I have a vested interest in the upcoming election. The slate of candidates is impressive but one stands out: Melinda Little.

I came to know Melinda during the establishment of the Village Mercantile (AKA Community Store) and have seen what dedication, knowledge, out-of-the-box thinking and just plain hard work can achieve.

Not only does this amazing community success story stand out, it has done so with dignity and respect. The Mercantile is an example of what a well-run operation looks like and Melinda Little is a major reason why.

Melinda is an effective leader for many reasons but two stand out: wisdom and balance.

She does her homework, studies options and evaluates consequences and then makes a plan. She is able to keep her energy focused on costs and benefits and does not act out of self-aggrandizement.

Such wisdom is only gained through experience, of which, Melinda has a proven record.

I cannot vote but if I could it would be for Melinda Little — a lifetime registered Democrat.
