Stefanik’s defense of M.T. Greene

To the editor:

Rep Stefanik insults our intelligence with her manipulative nonsense about her defense of Rep. M.T. Greene. She attacks the Democrats by calling it a “power grab.” What? Greene was removed from, of all things, the Education Committee. There are two video clips of her chasing down David Hogg, survivor of the Stoneman Douglas School shooting, and harrassing him. One of these clips is in the Capitol building. She lied about how she didn’t believe the QAnon lies anymore. She never seems to shut her mouth, spewing nonsense. She attempted to justify herself and play innocent that she has learned by “asking questions.” What hooey. She never disavowed the poster of her with an AR-15 stating “the Squad’s greatest nightmare.” The three women of “the Squad” are all minority women in the House. I watched Rashida Tlaib speak in the House about how threatened she felt by recent events. She has a family and children. She cried. In the House.

Greene threatens people who oppose her with retribution from Donald Trump, her great friend.

So back to Stefanik’s manipulative justification for her vote. She claims “it is not the right of the Democrats to unilaterally overturn the people of Georgia’s decision.” She insults us by assuming we are too stupid to know what she’s saying. By removing Greene from her committee assignments, it has nothing to do with the people of Georgia. They don’t pick committee assignments.

Stefanik’s comments mention Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota making anti-Semitic comments. The tweets actually were about lawmakers supporting the pro-Israel lobby for money. She apologized for her comments after a firestorm that painted her as anti-Semitic. It’s not the same. She never threatened the lives of fellow lawmakers with an AR-15. Greene’s comments have been way beyond the pale for any member of Congress. Did she disavow the Jewish space lasers that she claimed caused the fires in California? She never apologized.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Zahn
