One would expect bravery from Brady Pratt

To the editor:

Kudos to the Enterprise and Lou Reuter for the well-researched and informative article of Dec. 28, 2020, regarding Brady Pratt. As a volunteer assistant football coach, it was my pleasure to closely observe him during his formative years. There were others such as Mark Farmer, Jim Hayden, John Muldowney and Eric Bennett who had much more direct and impactful contact with Brady than did I. It is my belief that they all would agree that his crisis decision-making and bravery as an adult could be predicted by his actions in competitive athletics as a youth.

Brady was one of those kids into whose hands you wanted the ball when the chips were down and decisive action was needed. Those traits have apparently followed him in his adult profession as a Border Patrol agent, both on and off duty.

In that regard, he joins a group of other former Saranac Lake athletes, primarily in the military, who have performed with distinction and heroism but often in secrecy for national security reasons.

Therefore it is particularly satisfying that Brady’s life-saving actions of Dec. 20, 2020, can be publicly acclaimed, as you have so well done. The contents of the article were enjoyable, uplifting and gratifying but not surprising — not at all. This is exactly what one would expect of a man like Brady Pratt.
