When Elise Stefanik was first considering her run for Congress we met for lunch and a lengthy conversation. I was extremely impressed by her enthusiasm, intelligence and work ethic. I was proud to support her then and in each race since.

I am proud once again to support Congresswoman Elise Stefanik this election. Elise works extremely hard and understands the unique challenges facing every part of the sprawling 21st District, from dairy, agriculture and tourism to small business needs and trade, to supporting our military men and women and their families.

Elise is a fighter, and she has the victories we can all be thankful for. She fought for Fort Drum when it faced drastic troop reductions and secured the highest pay raise for our troops in a decade. She fought to retain medical personal protective equipment and ventilators for our county hospitals during the early onset of the coronavirus. She fought for the Constitution, our voice and our vote when the president faced flawed — and as recently discovered evidence regarding the Ukraine and China strongly suggests, fatally flawed — impeachment proceedings.

I always smile when I see our congresswoman sitting at the table, giving a voice to the North Country at the highest level, knowing she has our back.

I will have her back Nov. 3, and I hope you will, too.
