Thank you from Farm 2 Fork Organizing Committee

To the editor:

The Farm 2 Fork Organizing Committee would like to thank the community of Saranac Lake for continuing to show its support for our small farmers and businesses in the area during this unprecedented time. This year’s Farm 2 Fork event raised $430 for AdkAction’s local food access programming and spent over $4,000 that went directly to our local farms and business. Dishes were prepared with fresh ingredients from local farms by Barley Sandwich, Early Dawn Confections and I Do Wedding Cakes, Juniper Hill Farm, and Green Goddess.

We would also like to thank the community for adapting to this year’s “event,” as it was certainly a different one without the music, festivities and ambiance, and without Northern Current (formerly Hobofest) the following day to look forward to. But what we DO have is a community that always comes together to find a “Decidedly Different” way to continue to promote our local businesses.

We would also like to thank the volunteers who made the event happen as well as the new ownership of the former AMA property (now “The San”) for allowing us to utilize its parking lot to avoid creating additional congestion downtown.

We would lastly like to thank this year’s recipient of the Heirloom Award, Kelly Hofschneider. The award is given every year during Farm 2 Fork to one local person who has gone above and beyond in their support of local farmers and local food. Kelly has served on the Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Farmers’ Market Committees for seven years … donating countless hours to meetings and volunteering at markets as well as offering up her expertise in graphic design for the benefit of our local markets and our farmers and producers.

Since the onset of COVID-19, Kelly has helped to organize the innovative Farmers’ Park-It and to lead volunteer recruitment and organizational efforts for our markets all summer long, keeping our community and farmers safe. We can’t thank her enough for her continued efforts to support local farmers and local food in our community.

Thank you, from your Farm 2 Fork Committee:
