Traffic on Hillcrest Avenue

To the editor:

I am writing in support of Caitlin Wargo’s opinion regarding increased traffic on Hillcrest Avenue. Hillcrest is currently an active street for playing children, dog walkers and individuals out for a stroll. There are no sidewalks on Hillcrest, an issue which I believe needs to be corrected in any case. As a regular walker on Hillcrest, I am aware of how alert I need to be in order to avoid speeding cars. Police presence on Hillcrest is minimal. There is no light on the street at either end. The curve at the Crowne Plaza end of the street is quite dangerous for walkers as cars come speeding up that blind curve.

What will the plans be to keep us, the villagers, safe? There has been so much local objection to the spreading of Airbnb’s threat in the village. The use of Hillcrest Avenue for Main Street traffic is a further incursion into safe and peaceful village life.
