To the editor:

Really? A letter from a Stefanik supporter and Rep. Elise Stefanik herself taking credit for recently being the “hero” who got the state to allow PPE masks for correctional officers? There was no mystery that prisons would be hotbeds with everyone at risk. Maybe the president could have anticipated ordering face masks months ago for all U.S. citizens, including prisoners. Did Trump not notice in the January news photos that every Chinese citizen was wearing one? 

Oh, I forgot. According to Trump, it was a Democrat hoax, nothing to worry about. Then Stefanik supported Trump’s sudden scramble for cover-up by blaming China for not revealing the real danger of the coronavirus sooner. But banning flights from China would save us. Somehow, our genius president wasn’t following the reports coming from the World Health Organization’s Jan. 23 European emergency meeting. Thanks to that huge oversight, over 4,000 European flights kept right on coming into the JFK hot zone until the March 16 ban.

Good job, Stefanik, for parroting Trump’s pea-brain theory that China was at fault for everything. And now she stands behind “her man’s” ridiculous decision to blame and defund WHO. That makes a lot of sense — to take away funding from the main base of scientists working to find a vaccine to fight the world pandemic. 

As long as Stefanik keeps right on slanting things to highlight her “greatness” and plays along with Trump’s retaliatory actions, our representative might as well be a ventriloquist dummy sitting on Trump’s lap.
