Local crews made parade happen

To the editor:

After this year’s Carnival parade, I said what I do after all of them, namely, “This was the best parade, ever!” And I believe that’s true.

But I believe it’s also true that had it not been for the stellar efforts of our village and town workers, and the county and state road crews, there would’ve been no parade at all.

Friday’s storm left the entire area covered by snow dupa-deep to a tall logger. Had those crews not come through for us, the only parade entries that would’ve made it to the reviewing stand would’ve been Iditarod mushers and Tenth Mountain hardcores.

Everyone who marches in our Winter Carnival parade is a star. Ironically, the real stars of this year’s parade weren’t featured in it, and to them I give a big tip of my top hat.
