Winter reminders
To the editor:
The Village of Saranac Lake Department of Public Works has some winter reminders as we go into the 2019-20 winter season. There is a parking ban on ALL village streets between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. This ban lasts from Nov. 15 thru April 15. Any vehicles parked on the village streets will be subject to ticketing and/or towing at the OWNER’S expense.
The public is also reminded that it is illegal under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law 1219 Section 214 to place any snow and/or ice in any public street or highway. Violators can and will be subject to a citation. It is also imperative that homeowners should not bury fire hydrants in front of their property with snow, and they are asked to help remove snow from hydrants for fire safety.
Residents are to also know that under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law 1103b, the Department of Public Works is not liable for any vehicular or property damage that occurs during any snow removal operation. While it is the department’s policy to avoid any damage at all times, any damage that may occur is purely incidental.
The Village of Saranac Lake Department of Public Works appreciates all cooperation with the department and looks forward to safe winter season for all.
