A Christmas message from Ike

To the editor:

I just received this letter from Mary Jean Eisenhower of the Eisenhower Foundation and wanted to share it with all.

“In 1958 at the height of the Cold War, President Eisenhower delivered the first message via satellite expressing America’s wish for peace on earth and good will to men everywhere. Ike was forged in war, but he was devoted to peace. We are able to enjoy a peaceful Christmas season today in large part because of the sacrifices made by General Eisenhower and the solders he led. As we sit down to celebrate the holidays with our family, please take a moment to remember those heroes who fought for us.”

Let’s hope we can all preserve Ike’s legacy.
