To the editor:

On May 11, the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department held its seventh annual Golf Tournament fundraiser at the Saranac Inn Golf Club. One hundred thirty-six golfers from all around the area came out to enjoy a cool spring day and to show their support for the fire department. The fundraiser was a great success, and it was nice to see everyone who participated.

Congratulations to team Eckert, which took first place, shooting minus 13 and consisting of golfers Cody Eckert, Bill “Sarge” Eldridge, Derek Strack and Mike Phelan. Prizes were given out to the winners and the second and third place teams, along with closest to the pin and long drive contest winners for both men and women.

The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank all the participants, along with the following individuals and businesses that made this a successful fundraiser:

The lead sponsor once again for our event was Burnham Benefit Advisors, which among other things provided new golf balls and golf towels to all the players. Our hole sponsors were Fisher, Bessette, Muldowney and McArdle LLP, Adirondack Landscaping, Fourtune-Keough Funeral Home, ADK Express, Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Romano’s Saranac Lanes, St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers, Hyde Fuel, Belleville & Associates, Gordon W. Pratt Insurance Agency and I.B. Hunt Agency, Say Rentals, Edward Jones Investments, Jim Cochran, Sayles Construction, High Peaks Distributing, Carcuzzi Car Care Center, NBT Bank, MES, Neiderbuhl Tree Service and High Peaks Ford.

Special thanks to the Saranac Inn Golf Club, Chris and Missy Blanchard, Sara Placid Inn and Suites, Rockbottomgolf.com, Cape Air, Amusement and Vending’s Traeger sales and Wicked Signs and Graphics.
