To the editor:

A bit over a week ago I went to take the dogs for a walk. I pulled into the snowy area that I have been in and out of all winter, but on this day I got stuck. Really stuck. Ron Bowler of Evergreen Auto in Saranac Lake happened to drive by and immediately pulled over to help. He parked in a way that protected my car from being hit, and eventually he and his employees pulled my car out with a tow rope. Then, the other day, I got stuck again while heading out for a ski. This time a gentleman in a blue tractor with a large snow blower pulled up within minutes … out of nowhere! He pushed my car out of the way, plowed a throughway for me to follow him, plowed me a spot to park so I could ski, and off he went. Don’t know his name and had no time to thank him.

Thank you, Evergreen Auto, and thank you, stranger in the blue tractor. Your kindness is a big part of what makes living in this little village in the mountains so special.
