Much gratitude for Hobofest

To the editor:

We would like to express our appreciation to the various participants who helped to make eighth annual Hobofest such a success.

This was our second year at Riverside Park, after having been located at the train station the previous six years. We thank Jeremy Evans, John Sweeney and all the village workers who helped prepare the site.

We loved sharing the space with the Farm 2 Fork Festival, held the day before, and will continue to partner our offerings for future Labor Day weekends.

Our relationship with the business community continues to strengthen through advertising and sponsorship. Our main sponsor for the past two years has been Little Italy Restaurant & Pizzeria. We also appreciate the generosity and support from our additional sponsors: the Fiddlehead Bistro, Guide Boat Realty, Coakley High Peaks Ace Hardware, the Waterhole, Cape Air, Stewart’s Shops, Price Chopper and the Wild Center.

North Country Public Radio and the Adirondack Daily Enterprise served us as media sponsors, and we greatly value their enthusiastic coverage and promotion of the event.

Hobofest is made possible, in part, with funds from the Decrentralization Grant Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

Other support was supplied by the Saranac Lake Rotary Foundation, CED-Twin State Electric Supply, Scott’s Florist, Casella Waste Managment, Hannaford Supermarket, Tractor Supply Co., Cake Flower Bakery, Blue Line Brewery, the Adirondack Foundation and all of our program advertisers.

Russ Feher provided sound and worked a very long day. Thanks to Nori’s and Bronx Bistro for vending on site, and to BluSeed Studios for offering a printing workshop for children.

We also thank the numerous individual volunteers who helped with merchandise sales, set-up and break-down, welcoming the public, as well as help with the general logistics of the day. We couldn’t have done this without you!

The musicians who entertained us all afternoon and evening were absolutely amazing in the breadth and depth and variety of their performances and we thank them.

Finally, we deeply appreciate our friends, acquaintances and neighbors in this wonderful community of Saranac Lake who continue to attend and support this special day. We look forward to seeing you all again next year at the ninth annual Hobofest on Sept. 3.
