Thanks for backing LPHS scholarships

To the editor:

On behalf of the John R. Wisner Scholarship Committee, I would like to thank everyone who donated to and participated in the seventh annual golf tournament scholarship fundraiser on July 18, 2015, in memory of John “Bucky” Wisner, member of the Lake Placid High School Class of ’82. We had a great turnout and raised enough money to provide scholarships to two members of the Class of 2015, Nzoni Thompson and Emily Barney.

I would especially like to thank our business sponsors that also helped make the day a success: Out On A Limb, The Interlaken Inn, Price Chopper (Golub Corp.), Hannaford, Sugar Shack Dessert Company, Subway, McDonald’s, Mr. Mike’s, Starbucks, Saratoga Olive Oil Co., Central Garage, Miracle on Icing, Players Sports Bar & Grille, The Brown Dog Cafe & Wine Bar, The Breakfast Club, Terry Robards’ Wines & Spirits, The Wine & Spirit Shoppe, Fitness Revolution, The Candy Man Adirondack Chocolates, Green Goddess Natural Foods, Adirondack Steak and Seafood Company, Temptations from Lake Placid Gourmet, Caffe Rustica, Cascade Inn, Simply Gourmet, Trollbeads, Johnny’s Pizza, Ben and Jerry’s, Emma’s Lake Placid Creamery, Imagination Station, The Smoking Cork, Stouts & Stogies, Bob Blake Carpentry, and Boots and Birdies Miniature Golf. The generosity of these sponsors is truly appreciated, and we are thankful that these businesses continue to support projects in the community where they are located.

Butch Martin and his staff at Craig Wood were extremely helpful with our event. Jeff Estes and Dick Strack assisted us with setting up our event so that it ran smoothly. We could not have done it without them!

Joe Warren hosted a great after golf party at the Craig Wood restaurant. There was terrific food, and our golfers enjoyed a great end to their day.

We could not have done all this without the dedication and support of all our volunteers. Thank you for your time and dedication to making this a great event for a great cause.

Sincerely,

Gary Warrington
