Thanks for the generosity
To the editor:
The final results are in and this year’s Salvation Army Kettle Campaign in Saranac Lake was a huge success. The people of Saranac Lake are so generous and we want to say “Thank You!” to each and every one of you who put a dollar or two or some loose change into one of our kettles this holiday season. The result was more than $9,000.00 contributed to the kettles this year! Ninety percent of that money will go to help people in Saranac Lake during the coming year. In addition, we also received two large special contributions that raise the total for this year’s campaign to more than $17,000.00.
This year, we had a total of 43 people plus several service groups volunteer to ring bells. Most of these were doing this for the very first time. A big thank you also must go to them for a job well done.
I also want to thank Maggie Mortensen for her tireless work at coordinating the bell ringer schedule and getting them set up and taken down. Thanks also to Cathy Moore and the Adirondack Daily Enterprise office staff for their help in letting us store the kettles and with collecting and holding the funds.
Last year, the Salvation Army in Saranac Lake ran out of money by May. It will not happen again this year thanks to this very caring community.
Thank You Saranac Lake!
