Garcia has experience and integrity

To the editor:

It is with great pleasure, and honor, that I fully support Julie Garcia for New York State Supreme Court from the Fourth Judicial District. With regrets, I am unable to cast my vote as I live outside her district. However, I ask those of you who can to take full advantage of the change to do so.

Julie and I grew up in the Essex County hamlet of Witherbee, and I got to know her while teammates on high school sports. She was witty, funny, honest and down to earth, as well as eager and hard working – and still is! Over the years we lost touch, but she has never failed to acknowledge my husband and I enthusiastically with the warmth of a loyal, longtime friend when we do meet up.

I admire the way that Julie made her way from a hometown with little opportunity to becoming so successful in her life. She was able to take the bumps and wrong turns and turn them into learning experiences that have provided her a varied background suiting a Supreme Court justice. Most notable is her devotion to family and her being true to her humble beginnings by leaving a place of abundant opportunities and returning to an area to take on the responsibility of raising her deceased sister’s daughters. Even as a single mom of three, she was able to pursue her profession and was elected to become Essex County’s first woman district attorney. Since completing that term, she has maintained a successful private law practice.

If you are looking to vote for someone with experience and integrity, I cannot think of anyone more suited to the job. You deserve a say in who sits on the bench of our state’s highest court. Julie Garcia is a vote for common sense, compassion, honesty and dependability!
