Patrick H. ‘Pat’ Oddy

Patrick H. “Pat” Oddy, 67, died suddenly on Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Shaw) Oddy with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Born on Dec. 29, 1956, in Saranac Lake, he was the son of the late Nathaniel and Patricia (Duffy) Oddy.

Pat was raised and educated in Saranac Lake. He was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School, Class of 1975. He attended North Country Community College, Southern New Hampshire College in New Hampshire and Northeastern University in Massachusetts, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He was employed as a Principal IT Analyst at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and at Beth Israel Lahey Health – Exeter Hospital as senior principal analyst for the past 11 years.

Pat was an avid coin collector and was always on the lookout for a star note and a wheatie. He was passionate about his golf game and enjoyed the friendships he gained along the way. Pat was member of the Portsmouth Country Club. We are not sure which he loved more, golf or football. He played it, coached it and shared his passion for football with his dad, sons and friends. He is also known as “Sideline Dad” from his sons in all sports.

To know Pat, you needed to appreciate his corny jokes, huge sense of humor, boisterous laugh and love for his family, especially his “baby girls.” He had a deep respect for his friendships and caring of others.

He is survived by his son Matthew and his wife Jamie of Newton, New Hampshire; grandchildren Everly and Maisie Oddy; brothers Tom Oddy and his wife Meg of Grantham, New Hampshire, Kevin Oddy and his wife Jenn of Saranac Lake, and Dennis Oddy and his wife Christy of Littleton, Colorado; sisters Peg Cantwell and her husband Barry of Saranac Lake, and Mary Diefenbacher and her husband Donn of Marcy, New York; mother-in-law Barbara Shaw of Burlington, Massachusetts; brother-in-law Jeff Shaw and his wife Janet of Waltham, Massachusetts; and sisters-in-law Stephanie Sanders and her husband Tom of Waltham, and Katrina Marsala and her husband Chris of Billerica, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pat was sadly predeceased by his son Nathan Oddy and father-in-law Donald Shaw.

Family and friends attended calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22 at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St., Plaistow, New Hampshire. His funeral service will was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, New Hampshire.
