Louise Mary Wilcox

Louise Mary Wilcox, age 92, of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation Center in Plattsburgh.

Louise was born in Redford on Dec. 27, 1929, the daughter of Spencer and Stella (Delcor) Branch. Louise married the love of her life, Ellsworth “Red” Wilcox, on Sept. 6, 1948 in St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake, and raised her six children here.

Louise was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Bernard’s in Saranac Lake, and for many years she volunteered at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake and Adirondack Medical Center. Louise was also a dedicated election officer responsible for many elections within Franklin County. Louise loved to read and could often be found reading a romance novel or watching Hallmark and Lifetime movies. Louise’s favorite time of year was Christmas when she would love to decorate not only the living room where the Christmas tree was, but every room in the house. She loved baking cookies and different breads for all her family and friends which everyone looked forward to.

Everyone had their favorites and she made sure they got extras. Louise loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to challenge them to a mean game of rummy. She also loved cardinal birds and very much enjoyed being with her friends twice a week for coffee at McDonald’s, McKenizie’s and the Blue Moon Caf. Sometimes they allowed their spouses to join them.

Louise is survived by her daughters: Sharon Langdell of Saranac Lake, and Darlene Wilcox of Theresa, New York; her sons: Steve (Margaret) Wilcox of Saranac Lake, Craig (Donna) Wilcox of Tupper Lake, Brad Wilcox of Saranac Lake and Michael “Opie” (Amber) Wilcox of Saranac Lake. Louise is also survived by her brother Augustine Branch and 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband “Red”; her father and mother; her sisters, Rose M. Glover and Mary Miller; and her brothers, Harlan, Roland, Richard, Marshall, Donald, Joseph, George and Jerome “Champ” Branch.
