Gordon Alfred Wells

Gordon Alfred “Butch” Wells, age 70, of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family while under the care of High Peaks Hospice.

Butch was born in Derby Line, Vermont on Sept. 9, 1951 the son of June and Gerald Wells. He married the former Crystal Ormsby, who predeceased him in 2013.

Butch was a cook in the U.S. Marine Corps and continued to cook through most of his life. For many years, Butch worked at the Saranac Lake Police Department. Butch enjoyed making gun cabinets, china cabinets, designing flower beds and working at his cleaning business.

Butch was a loving father and brother and was very caring, he will be deeply missed.

Butch is survived by his two sons, Eric and Steven Wells; his three daughters, Donna, Tabatha and June Wells. His two brothers, Ralph and Daniel Wells; and his two sisters, Lynn Lester and Debra Wells. Butch is also survived by his nephew Greg Cyranowicz, his nieces Janis and Melissa Cyranowicz, and his great nephew Ryan White.

Butch was preceded in death by his wife Crystal Wells, his father and mother and two brothers, Gary and Dale Wells.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. At Butch’s request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
